Summary

The successful candidate in this position will possess key skills and experience which include knowledge of international import transportation, import brokerage procedures, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements including the clearance process, Section 301/232, aluminum/steel license/exclusion, classification, and valuation. This position requires excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task along with the knowledge to produce accurate workflow in a fast-paced brokerage operations environment, while positively contributing to the success of the team.

This role primarily requires the individual to manage accounts from A to Z, prepare all documentation necessary to clear merchandise through Customs and any applicable PGA, provide excellent, thorough, and prompt customer service while leading a team of entry specialists who handle customers in the food, steel/aluminum, automotive industry along with other commodities.

  • Support day-to-day customs brokerage operation as required
  • Conduct year-end performance evaluations

  • Review weekly and monthly account receivable reports and communicate status to Finance
  • Liaise with third parties to move goods (by road, rail, air, or sea) in accordance with customer requirements
  • File breakbulk entries using Remote Location Filing (RLF) and manage last mile deliveries for related shipments
  • Consult with CBP to navigate complex import procedures and formalities
  • Collaborate closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure a smooth operation and to meet customer deadlines and requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight
  • Knowledge of state, federal and international applicable laws, and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e., Customs, Security, other import & export government agencies)

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ Supervisory or Team Lead Experience

 Education and Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED; Post-secondary education preferred
