The Freight Forwarding Branch Manager reports to the LOGISTEED America, Inc., VP of Freight Forwarding. This role will primarily oversee the Freight Forwarding Operations at the Forest Park, Atlanta, GA branch including but not limited to:

  • Will have knowledge of all aspects of the Freight Forwarding industry
  • Will be responsible for the overall direction and performance of the office
  • Working closely with Senior Management, the Branch Manager will be responsible for the financial results of the branch
  • Accountable for achieving business objectives and KPIs.
  • Coaching, managing and mentoring staff are key responsibilities.

Essential Functions

OPERATIONS

  • Successfully lead Freight Forwarding Operations Team
  • Support day-to-day Freight Forwarding Operations as required
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for Freight Forwarding Operations
  • Investigating and planning the most appropriate route for shipments
  • Liaising with third parties to move goods (by road, rail, air or sea) in accordance with customer requirements
  • Arranging air transport for urgent and high-value freight and managing the risk door to door
  • Resolve issues or discrepancies with customers and freight carriers
  • Coordinating US Customs Brokerage to guide the freight efficiently through complex import procedures
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight
  • Managing multiple customers across the globe coordinating shipments between multiple carriers and modes of transportation
  • Knowledge of state, federal and international applicable laws and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e. Customs, Security, other import & export government agencies)
  • Performs job duties onsite at designated work facility
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs dictate
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager
  • Available to work flexible hours and over time depending on business needs
  • Approximately up to 25% travel required

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations and ensuring area housekeeping requirements are met

FINANCE

  • Responsible for the budget creation and Profit and Loss (P & L) of the ATL Branch and reporting of KPIs
  • Review weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable Reports and communicate status to Finance
  • Negotiating contracts, transportation, and handling costs

TRAINING

  • Train and develop Freight Forwarding Team
  • Cross train to all functions of Freight Forwarding Operations

COLLABORATION

  • Work closely with the HR Department concerning recruitment, hiring, corrective action process and annual performance review process
  • Working closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operation to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Distribution/Warehousing
  • Minimum 5 years’ managing / supervising others

 Education and Certifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements and Preferences 

  • Bachelor’s degree/Post-secondary education preferred
  • Proven strong business acumen
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to solve problems independently as well as in a team environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

Seventy-five percent of the work time will be spent in an office setting where the environment is climate controlled.  Twenty-five percent of work time may be spent in various warehouse or other locations where the environment is not climate controlled (hot and cold seasonally).
