Apply NowThe Assistant Branch Manager’s role will oversee the Freight Forwarding Operations departments, including Import, Brokerage and Export. The successful candidate will have knowledge of all aspects of the Freight Forwarding industry and will be responsible to assist the Branch Manager with the overall direction and performance of the branch.

• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for Freight Forwarding Operations (Export / Import)
• Plan cross train to all functions of Freight Forwarding Operations and deploy
• Investigate and plan the most appropriate route for shipments
• Negotiate contracts, transportation and handling costs
• Liaise with third parties to move goods (by road, rail, air or sea) in accordance with customer requirements
• Arrange air transport for urgent and high-value freight and managing the risk door to door
• Resolve issues or discrepancies with customers and freight carriers
• Coordinate US Customs Brokerage to guide the freight efficiently through complex import procedures
• Work closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operation to meet deadlines
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight
• Manage multiple customers across the globe coordinating shipments between multiple carriers and modes of transportation
• Knowledge of state, federal and international applicable laws and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e. Customs, Security, other import & export government agencies)
• Share mutual understanding of Branch status with Branch Manager to avoid any confusion of double standard among the branch
• Ability to travel domestically as business needs dictate

Supervisory Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions
Previous Work Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ Manager or Supervisory Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ Freight Forwarding experience
Education and Certifications
• High School Diploma or GED; Post-secondary education preferred.
